Hi, I'm Julia! I spent 7.5 years during my twenties building a career in the UK university sector - a job that looked great on paper but slowly stopped feeling like enough.

In 2024, at the age of 29, I took a year-long career break and spent 10 months solo travelling across Asia and Australia.

Whilst I was away, I had time to reflect on the decade coming to an end and realised just how long I'd spent being comfortable.

I’d spent years in my job feeling bored and unchallenged whilst also having no desire to climb any higher.

I felt unfulfilled — and honestly, a bit terrified of reaching the end of my life without ever fulfilling my potential.

I came home knowing I couldn't go back.

I handed in my notice, moved in with my parents, and started looking for something different.

During that time, I worked in a local cafe.

Three weeks before I found what I was looking for, the cafe closed with almost no notice and I was out of a job.

It wasn't the first time something like that had happened to me.

That's when it really landed.

We hand so much control over our lives to other people -our income, our time, our security - and most of us don't question it until something forces us to.

I found this business and saw ordinary people living the life I wanted, and thought - why not me?

I didn't want to wait for the next thing to force my hand.

I wanted to build something that was mine.

I spent years in a career built around helping others find their path, and eventually I had to get honest about finding my own.
